Nigerian Women Pioneers & Icons

Women pioneers and achievers are celebrated because they refuse to be distracted by the myriad existent factors that seek to prevent women from becoming achievers; factors such as the expectations and pressures of managing several roles - housekeeper, homemaker and mother/caregiver, disciplinarian and salary earner - these and much more are the things expected of a woman in our society. However, women have proven that with wisdom and proper management skills, they can still be outstanding achievers.

This publication is designed to motivate the young reader to do more exploration and research into the lives of these great achievers in order to identify the characteristics that make for their distinction with the hope that these will serve as role models to young Nigerian women, particularly in secondary schools, as they prepare to embark on their professional careers, as well as challenge them to also make positive and lasting contribution to the development of the country.
